Expanded GPS Tracker Deployment Enables Enhanced Visibility into Pallet Movement and Supply Chain Behavior
ORLANDO, FL – iGPS Logistics, the nation’s leading provider of innovative supply chain solutions featuring its lightweight, recyclable shipping pallets, has doubled the GPS tracking capacity within its plastic pallet pool, significantly expanding the company’s ability to monitor pallet movement and generate real-time insights across its network.
iGPS GPS Trackers complement the RFID technology and bar code serialization that have always been embedded throughout the iGPS pallet fleet. The expanded tracker deployment provides iGPS with greater visibility into the movement, location, and behavior of pallets throughout the supply chain.
This increased visibility helps iGPS analyze pallet dwell time, improve the recovery of misplaced or lost assets, better understand network flows, and identify opportunities to increase overall efficiency. The data generated by the trackers can also provide iGPS with deeper insight into how pallets move through facilities, transportation lanes, and distribution networks, resulting in a more optimized and resilient supply chain. These insights add a new layer of intelligence to a pallet platform already valued by customers for its light weight, durability, and sustainability benefits.
“More than half our pallet recoveries now come from GPS-enabled assets,” said Milton Feliciano, VP of Information Technology at iGPS. “This translates into lower costs for our customers, more pallets staying in circulation, and a more streamlined network.”
“Our continued expansion of GPS tracking capacity represents an important investment in the iGPS pallet as one of the industry’s leading smart assets,” added Jeff Pepperworth, President and CEO of iGPS. “In addition to the asset recovery benefits, the more visibility we have into how pallets move through the supply chain, the better positioned we are to operate the pool efficiently and support our customers.”
About iGPS Logistics: iGPS Logistics is North America’s largest pooler of 48” x 40” CBA-spec plastic shipping pallets. iGPS pallets generate measurable savings in transport expenses, reduced product damage, and other operational efficiencies. iGPS’ platform is a major advance in supply chain hygiene — a platform that can easily be cleaned. It will not absorb fluids that can lead to contamination and never requires treatment with toxic pesticides or fungicides.
Measuring 48” x 40”, iGPS’ platform enables larger load patterns and is ideally suited for automated environments. It puts an end to broken boards and protruding nails that can damage equipment, endanger workers, jam production lines, and litter workplaces.
An independent life cycle analysis has documented that iGPS’ solution is better for the environment than both one-way and multiuse wood pallets. iGPS has been named a “Top Green Provider” by Food Logistics, a “G75 Top Green Supply Chain Partner” by Inbound Logistics, and is also a recipient of the Supply and Demand Chain Executive SDCE 100 Award.
