Connected World Magazine selects company as the “most successful adopter” in the Supply Chain category
ORLANDO, Fla. – July 5, 2011 – Intelligent Global Pooling Systems (iGPS Company, LLC), operator of the world’s first pallet rental service to provide lightweight, 100 percent recyclable plastic pallets with embedded radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, has been awarded the Connected World Magazine Value Chain Gold Award. The win is for the most successful adoption of M2M (machine-to-machine) technology in the Supply Chain & Logistics category. The awards recognize the process of combining multiple technologies such as device-connectivity hardware, radio modules, network service and provisioning, as well as application software and infrastructure, to create a winning solution for the end customer.
The Gold Award recognized iGPS, in conjunction with Numerex Corporation and Enfora, Inc., for a program to provide global monitoring of pallets.
“It is a great honor to receive this award, which recognizes the extensive work we have done with our partners in the M2M area, the engineering teams from Enfora, with their Spider AT GSM/GPS devices using their N4A Architecture, and Numerex, utilizing their DNA (Device across the Network to the Application) for SIM cards,” said Jack Sparn, Chief Information Officer at iGPS. “Our use of M2M technologies imbedded in thousands of our RFID-enabled pallets provides our customers with world-class data, accessible in a variety of ways, all designed to improve the visibility and efficiency of their operations.”
The tracking system put in place by iGPS and its partners is a giant leap forward in reducing lost or stolen loads. Not only can shippers keep tabs on their products as they move through the supply chain, the tracking technology is a deterrent to theft or misappropriation. This leads to tremendous savings, more reliable and timely deliveries and a more efficient supply chain overall.
In just five years of operation, iGPS has revolutionized the way goods are being shipped throughout the North American supply chain. Its lightweight, 100 percent recyclable all-plastic pallet is rapidly replacing wood as the platform of choice among the world’s most innovative companies.
About iGPS
iGPS operates the world’s first pallet rental service providing shippers and receivers with lightweight, 100 percent recyclable all-plastic pallets with embedded RFID tags. Its highly engineered platform—the world’s most advanced shipping pallet—is rapidly replacing wood as the platform of choice among the world’s most innovative companies. Businesses that switch from wood pallets to iGPS realize game-changing savings—as much as $2 per unitized load—thanks to lower transport costs, reduced production downtime, reduced product damage and fewer rejected loads. The iGPS pallet is also a major advance in supply chain hygiene—a platform that is easily cleaned, will not absorb fluids that can lead to contamination and never requires treatment with toxic pesticides and fungicides. An independent life cycle analysis has documented that iGPS’ solution is dramatically better for the environment than both one-way and multiuse wood pallets. Launched in March 2006, the company has created nearly 2,000 new green jobs in the U.S. and is led by pallet and supply chain veterans with decades of experience. iGPS (www.igps.net) is headquartered in Orlando, FL and operates its state-of-the-art National Sales and Innovation Center in Northwest Arkansas.
